The Bayeux Tapestry Arrives in England

One of the most striking artefacts in the history of England crossed the English Channel on the night of the 9th July, making its way from Normandy to the British Museum. This beautifully embroidered work is one of the most famous and important surviving artworks from the medieval period.

The masterpiece is a visual story, from the Norman perspective, of the conquest of England in 1066. The Normans were Germanic Christian warriors, a ruling elite in the North of France, descended from Viking raiders in the region. They integrated with the Germanic Frankish elite in Normandy, as well as with the local Gallo-Roman people.

The great Anglo-Saxon king, St Edward the Confessor, whose sacred remains lie in Westminster Abbey, enshrined to this day, passed away and left the Anglo-Saxon crown to Harold Godwinson, Earl of Wessex. The Bayeux Tapestry (actually a work of embroidery, not a tapestry) depicts the supposed oath which was made by Harold on his visit to Normandy, on the book , to support the Duke of Normandy, William’s, claim to the English throne.

The tapestry then depicts the famous battle of Hastings, in which the Normans were successful. It is an astounding work of art. Some say it is Norman propaganda, but it contains rich details of life in the Medieval period and is a valuable historical record.

For the first time since the creation of the tapestry nearly 1,000 years ago, the Bayeux Tapestry has returned to England on a loan from France. It crossed the Channel in a high-security and meticulously planned overnight operation on 9th July.

The tapestry will be on display in the British Museum from September 10th, 2026 to July 11th 2027. In reciprocity, the British Museum is lending the Sutton Hoo helmet to France.

Interpreting this, some say it is simply a gesture of friendship between France and England, to refresh the Entente Cordiale . Others will say it is a subtle attempt to show British unity with Europe and the European Union, indeed it is well known that Macron is conspiring to lead the European super-state. Others say that it is a sick joke, highlighting the fact that thousands of illegal immigrants are invading England each day on rubber dinghies.

Either way it is an astonishing moment in history. Tickets to see the Bayeux Tapestry at the British Museum have already sold out. Like Concord, or our shared excellence in cheese manufacturing, this gesture of exchange shows the deep and ancient shared history of England and France.

MP Rupert Lowe Features on the Joe Rogan Podcast

In recent days, MP for Great Yarmouth Rupert Lowe featured on the Joe Rogan podcast, and it was an astounding success. Mr Lowe once again showed himself to be a fine speaker, and able to talk with people from all walks of life.

The podcast covered a wide variety of interesting topics. The creeping infiltration of Socialism into Britain over many decades largely led by the Fabian Society. The European project to tie Britain down to the EU super-state. The attempts to deprive our great nation of its pound. And the horrors of the Pakistani Muslim Rape Gangs, which is perhaps the greatest scandal to occur in British history.

A clear conclusion of the podcast seems to be that Britain is being run by criminals. That is, people breaking our law. This can be seen by our open acceptance of illegal immigrants, with thousands of unvetted males from across the Third World arriving in our blessed country every single day. These are not desperate asylum seekers despite what many like to believe, if it were so there would be women and children making the journey.

What is also clear is that Americans often have misconceptions about what Britain is like on the ground. This became clear when Rogan assumed that we have free higher education. What is also clear is a lack of understanding about how our political system works compared to the American system. We could do more to improve our communication of these matters.

The global network of socialists are scourged by a sense of deep pessimism, or else fanatic idealism. European socialists harbour deep resentment towards the Anglo-Saxon world for its success. Many want revenge, and the Third World certainly wants revenge. This is clearly understood by Rupert and Rogan.

At the Anglian Times, and in England, we are optimists. We believe the present is greater than any period before in history. Starvation is practically eliminated on a global scale. In India, extreme poverty was 50% in 1950 and today it is less than 5%. Child mortality in Britain has gone from 300 in 1000 in 1800, to 5 in 1000 today. This is thanks to the march of technology and capitalism, led by the Anglosphere. This is the positive attitude of Lowe and Rogan.

Lowe also commented on his hope for Anglospheric unity. The great nations, America, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, South Africa, etc. These countries have been a profound force for good in the world. England directed the global abolition of slavery. England and America put a stop to the Nazis. England established the institutions for personal liberty and spread it across the world. By the establishment of good governance, adoption of English Common Law, and advances in technology, collectively these countries have advanced global prosperity, liberty, and happiness, at a level unprecedented in the history of the world.

Also manifest in Lowe’s philosophy is his belief in the sickness of the soul that comes from dependence on the State. Dependence on the State makes people lazy, lax, and unambitious. The welfare state in Britain is now so incredibly large that the government consumes around 50% of GDP just for its own function. Much of this money goes towards unelected quasi-non-governmental organisations (quangos) which are weaponised against ordinary tax-paying and law-abiding citizens. Tax is so high that our brightest billionaires are leaving the country en masse, and taking their tax with them. Much of tax-payer money also goes towards unvetted and often dangerous illegal immigrants, who arrive every single day by dinghy across the English Channel, and are put at the top of the list of priority for dental and healthcare, are given food, accommodation, and paths to citizenship.

Lowe commented how this mirrors exactly what happened in America under the catastrophic Biden administration. Approximately 10 million unvetted, murderous, and dangerous people, often men, from all across the world, entered into America. This is a direct result of far-left extreme philosophy advocating for open borders.

The podcast was a profound success and Rupert showed himself to be the man. His support is growing rapidly. Restore Britain won every seat in the recent local county elections in Norfolk. In the Makerfield by-election, their first ever competition for a seat in parliament, as a just 4-month old party, they secured 7% of the vote.

Joe Rogan is one of the most important men of our generation and it was largely thanks to him that America was rescued from the scourge of the extreme radical far left. Rupert Lowe is equally important, and is set to become the next Prime Minister of our blessed isles.

What is a Nationalist?

There need not be so much controversy surrounding the word nationalist. It means something quite simple. It describes someone who believes in a nation.

Two words are flying around on X in the British discourse: civic nationalist and ethnonationalist.

These terms are new and quite unimportant constructions. Nationalist refers to someone who believes in a nation. And a nation must consist of and exist for a particular peoples. Indeed, the very word 'nationalist' comes from the Latin word 'natio' which essentially means 'kin'.

But there is also an aspect, at least in our country, of those who are not kin becoming part of the nation, the 'natio'. This belief ultimately stems from Christianity.

Whether one knows it or not, all of one's moral judgments are Christian, we should consider what the Bible, the ultimate source of our moral judgements, says.

The Old Testament of the Bible teaches one not to persecute the stranger in your midst. That is, a foreigner who is welcomed as a part of your tribe. The twelve tribes of Israel were directly descended, from Jacob, who's name God changed to Israel. These twelve tribes were God's chosen people, and descended from a shared bloodline going back to Jacob (Israel), Isaac, and Abraham. God's chosen people were indeed a people in that they were extended relatives.

The New Testament tackles the same topic, that of which people God chooses. Matthew 3:9: "And do not presume to say to yourselves, ‘We have Abraham as our father,’ for I tell you, God is able from these stones to raise up children for Abraham." This does directly challenge the Old Testament. This discredits the idea of favour of the Jews.

Christ Himself addresses the same issue: Matthew 12:21-28 "He answered, “I was sent only to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.” But she came and knelt before him, saying, “Lord, help me.” And he answered, “It is not right to take the children’s bread and throw it to the dogs.” She said, “Yes, Lord, yet even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their masters’ table.” Then Jesus answered her, “O woman, great is your faith! Be it done for you as you desire.”

And the most famous line which touches this topic. Galatians 3:28: "For in Christ Jesus you are all sons of God through faith. For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is no male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. And if you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s offspring, heirs according to promise."

This implies one simple thing, from a moral perspective as prescribed by the Bible. Amongst those who believe in Christ, race does not matter.

So in the question of civic nationalists (non-relatives who are one in Christ) and ethnic nationalists (the Israelites), the answer is both. Both are the correct reading. The Old Testament is about God's relationship to nations, to peoples, to tribes, to kin. God has a chosen tribe which is the Israelites, the descendants of Israel. The New Testament, however, says that those believing in Christ are like brother and sister, like kin. This creates a genuine tension, but to discard the Old Testament teachings would be to commit the Marcion heresy.

And you may think considerations of Biblical teaching irrelevant; but whether you know it or not these rules are what one's moral judgments are based on. Christianity is the sea we swim in.

And so, if there is a tension between the 'ethnos' and the 'demos' arguments in the ordering of a nation, it reflects a real tension in the Bible. The message of the Bible would seem to be that nations under the Christian God are good. This should challenge our acceptance of non- Christians. Christ's own bias towards a certain kin also suggests that a nation ought to harbour an ethnos, or at least that it is not evil to assume so.

The idea that we ought not to persecute the foreigner amongst us is deep, but that is conducive on their own acceptance and assimilation into the tribe, and from a New Testament perspective that is conducive on their acceptance of Christ.

So the question is, how have England and America allowed themselves to let in so many non-Christians and non-English or non-Americans? Partially, this is a consequence of our abandonment of strong male-led families - a Protestant de-emphasis on the family unit has led to a more individualistic society that consequently places less value on kin. This tradition has lead ultimately to atomisation and dissipation. Partially, it is over- feminisation, women being, in general, much more compassionate to the weak and to outsiders. And partially is Christian ideas extended without any actual belief in Christ. It is the original Christian concepts of welcoming the stranger engorged beyond proportion within a rationalist and materialistic frame.

The solution is strong family units, masculinity, and male-led families.

Restore Britain Secure 6.8%

The Makerfield by-election took place in Wigan on 18th June 2026, with Labour securing a firm victory after they called ‘King of the North’ Andy Burnham from the woodwork.

Burnham secured 54.8% with 24,927 votes, with a majority of 9,231 seats. It seems that two factors played to his advantage: one, his reputation in the North and his seeming ability to give Northerners a voice; two, the whole ‘get Starmer out’ rhetoric. It’s likely to be more so the latter, at least that was the impression on the ground. Hatred for Starmer meant many on the fence about Labour chose to vote for Andy regardless.

This should raise questions about why we vote in the first place. Voting should not entail ‘tactical voting’ from a selection of bad choices, but people who genuinely represent people’s concerns. This is what a functioning democratic process would look like.

On the ground, the town was flooded with Labour and Reform posters and signs. Labour used a cartoon caricature of Burnham, with the slogan ‘Vote Andy For Us’. Simultaneously, dodging the damaged Labour brand and brandishing their collectivist ideology with ‘Us’. But Reform banners were much more present, not to mention the Reform buses. The place was awash with turquoise. What was patently clear on the ground was that Reform had spent a lot of time and money on this campaign.

Robert Kenyon was the Reform candidate who came in second place with 15,696 votes and 34.5% of the vote share. In third followed Rebecca Shepherd of Restore Britain, with 3,111 votes at 6.8%.

This was Restore Britain’s first ever outing for an election, and they performed well from a standing start, being a party only 4 months old. The support on the ground was remarkable, with a much larger crowd especially on the Saturday prior to the election than even Great Yarmouth. Restore Britain won a landslide in local elections in Great Yarmouth a couple of months ago, which is leader MP Rupert Lowe’s own constituency.

The turnout for this by-election was large at 58.8%. This is notably high for a by-election.

Compare this result to the 2024 General Election, where Labour won 18,202 votes (45.2%) and Reform won 12,803 votes (31.8%). Labour drastically improved, likely the Burnham effect, and Reform only slightly.

The seat has been a safe Labour seat since 1983 and is around 94% white British demographics. Josh Simons stepped down specifically to run and leave the path for Burnham open. Burnham upon winning must resign as Mayor which has triggered a Manchester mayoral election. Restore Britain has announced they will run a candidate there.

Latest on the Iran War

In recent news on the Iran war, the ceasefire agreed between America and Iran has been put under pressure after Israel attacked Lebanon. This seems to be an act independent of American approval, but Iran is calling the attack a violation of the ceasefire agreement. The Iran-backed terrorist group, Hezbollah, is active in Lebanon.

Further pressure was put on the deal after the White House found out that Iran was charging tolls on ships passing through the Strait. In a vexatious post on Truth Social, the President posted “Iran is doing a very poor job, dishonorable some would say, of allowing Oil to go through the Strait of Hormuz. That is not the agreement we have!” and “There are reports that Iran is charging fees to tankers going through the Strait of Hormuz – They better not be and, if they are, they better stop now! President DONALD J. TRUMP”.

Trump previously stated on Easter Monday that should Iran not agree to open the Strait, key infrastructure such as bridges and power stations would be attacked by America. Destruction of this infrastructure would not just cause short term damage, but maim Iran for the long term, and there are questions of the effect on civilians. However, the Trump administration needs the Strait open as it presents a pressure point in global markets.

For example, since February 28th, the FTSE 250 stock price dropped severely by roughly £2000 reflecting dependence of wider UK industry on oil prices. Similarly, the S&P 500 dropped by roughly $500. This reflects greater resistance to energy costs than Britain because America can supply their own oil, but a significant drop nevertheless that would put pressure on the President. Increases in cost of fuel for American motorists is also a political pressure point for the President’s approval.

Naturally, Iran is using its proximity to the Strait as its only real political leverage. They can disrupt the Strait with nothing more than a few trucks containing missile launchers - ships passing through will be unwilling at even the slightest risk.

To ensure the deal is maintained, diplomatic delegations are being mediated by the US between Lebanon and Israel to de-escalate Lebanon. Lebanon is home to the Iran-backed terrorist group Hezbollah. The delegation comes after what seems to be confusion about whether Lebanon was included in the deal struck.

The Return of Fury

On Saturday, Tyson Fury will return to the ring to fight Arslanbek Makhmudov at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Fury is now 37, and has a history of returning from retirement. He previously held the title of world champion, but lost it to current heavyweight Usyk on points, Usyk proving himself to be one of the most skillful boxers in history. Usyk has proved a match to Fury’s unconventional but brilliant style. He uses his boxing skill to win victories on points. But can the now 37 year old Fury take on Arslanbek Makhmudov? His manager Spencer Brown seems confident that he can. He has called the fight on Saturday a warm-up for the fight long-awaited and anticipated by fans across Britain and the globe, between Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury, two titans of British boxing. The fight would be more plausible if Joshua can also land a warm-up fight. In his previous fight, he beat YouTuber Jake Paul, breaking his jaw. He is now recovering from a car accident in Nigeria, in which Joshua’s long-time strength coach Sina Ghami and close friend Latif Ayodele were sadly killed. Were he to take on a warm-up fight, he may then be ready to fight the Fury fight which we all want to see. This all depends on Fury’s bout against Makhmudov on Saturday. Tyson’s manager Spencer Brown says, ‘It’s a very, very hard fight this. It’s a guy who can punch, a guy who can knock you out and he’s proved that. He’s got a great amateur record, he’s strong, he wrestles, he wrestles bears,” Brown said. Should Fury win, the Fury-Joshua fight becomes more likely. Uysk and Joshua are both likely to attend the bout on Saturday.
